Founded by a Quaker named Edwin Lacey in the late 19th century, the town earned its name for the poison ivy that was prominent in the region. It was incorporated as a borough only a few decades later, and has become a popular place to settle down and raise a family in Bucks County. Ivyland is perhaps best known for its Historic District, which is comprised of the finest collection of Victorian-era buildings in the state; it is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
